potted plants and a downtown corner

I have kind of been obsessed with little green potted plants lately. I want them on windowsills, on bedside tables, and in amongst books on a bookshelf. So yesterday I randomly had the most wonderful little whim of a thought while reading my economics (of all things!): To own a cheery little botanical shop somewhere on a corner street downtown - filled with colorful terra-cotta pots and eccentric green plants! Now I've never really been one for gardening or anything like that, nor can I say that green thumbs run in the family (it's pretty much a miracle if we keep anything green living for more than a week). But within the matter of time it took me to read one sentence containing the word "plant" in it, I was all of a sudden seeing myself wearing rubber boots in a frilly yellow apron with a bandanna tied around my hair and potting soil up to elbows working inside an artistic, bright blue shop with crawling ivy, cast iron gates and pleasant happy customers. Heehee....yeah that's kind of how my brain operates. Say one word and I can plan a life, career, novel, and major motion picture out of it. Welcome to the mind of Summer ;)

While this botanical whim of mine does sound lovely, I'm pretty sure it's not exactly what
I want to pursue in life. All that aside though, my obsession for little green potted plants continues. And I am bound to end up with gobs of them (weather they be living or dying) in my house someday.

p.s. So I haaaave to know! What's your favorite kind of plant?

  1. Cute thoughts! :) I love succulents - I don't own any, but I heard they're pretty easy to take care of. I don't have much of a green thumb either, most of my plants suffer from underwatering :<

  3. plants are soo fun actually i have a bunch. spider plants are an easy keeper just don't over-water them. plus they are easy to get starts off of so in a few months you could have multiples plants from just one. orchids are surprisingly easy too. you only water them about a tablespoon of water about once a month & they like sun. my favorite though is a golden pothos vine they are easy to get starts off of too & the one i have(for the past 9yrs) is a baby off of one that my mom has. she's had hers since she was in high school lol. have fun with them!
